Birthday Fun!

Birthday Night Out!

Yesterday was my 31st birthday! It is so hard to believe........

It has been quite a year this past year! A mixture of wonderful, fun, and disappointments along with it all. But I guess all the ups and downs are what make a year in a life feel full. I have been so blessed to get to move back "home" to Atlanta, and have enjoyed every minute of being here! I have a beautiful home, have been able to spend time with so many old friends that I have missed so much over the years, and made new friends that are so wonderful. I have the best job ever! Teaching music to children, and seeing their smiling faces everyday brings so much joy to my heart. I am so happy to have found this job! My daughter is beautiful and growing and happy and healthy. She absolutely amazes me every day. My husband has started not one, but two new positions within the same company within one year and has just thrived. He manages to somehow do his job and be amazing, and still come home and be the best husband and father anyone could hope for. We have been able to travel alot this year and had many opportunities for good old fashioned fun!!

Our heartbreak this year came along with trying so hard to give Aubrey a brother or sister, and losing 3 pregnancies in one year. We are still so hopeful and are working with wonderful doctors and we are really feeling positive about the possibility of another baby! I think it is important to recognize the good and the bad, and know that overall this year has shown me more about all the love I am blessed to have from my wonderful family and friends.

So I am happy on this birthday and looking forward to the next year and all the moments that lie ahead.

Summer Fun!

The summer has just begun, but we are already having so much fun! We have been to visit our Grandmomma in Alabama, to Destin for a little beach time, and had lots of friends and family come to visit us! It has been the start of a great summer.

Aubrey finished preschool for the year and just took her first set of swimming lessons and she is doing great...she really loves the water and loves to swim!

OH, and Jon's new favorite pasttime is making raspberry jam from our raspberry bushes in our backyard.........it is actually really delicious! It has been fondly named "Jonny Jam" and it quite popular around these parts! :)

Here are some of our favorite pics from the end of spring/beginning of summer 2008!

California!!!

Until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Blvd.! Kept singing this all week long!!

Jon and I just got home from a wonderful trip out to Newport Beach, California. Jon had a work meeting out there and I was invited to come along! I was treated to the Island Hotel Spa and then some shopping at Fashion Island during the days, and then Jon and I had some really nice dinners out together! One of the days we were there we rented a convertible and drove up the Coast to L.A.........it was so much fun! We stopped in Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, (Rodeo Drive and Robertson Blvd. of course) and through the streets of Hollywood before heading back to Newport Beach that evening. We shopped, took in the beaches and sights of Hollywood, had dinner at The Ivy and just had an amazing time.

It was so special to get to spend some quality time together with just the two of us!

Thank you to Nana for coming to stay with Aubrey and giving her such a special week! This is Aubrey in a new dress that her Nana made just for her!

Sugarland!

Jen and I went to see Sugarland at the Fox Theatre here in Altanta! I was so excited because I didn't know about it until the last minute and then found out it was a sold out show........so I was feeling like I was super cool because I was able to snag two tickets at the last minute on Ticketmaster and they looked like really great seats! Orchestra Center about halfway back.......how much better can it get?
And yes, that was our view from two rows directly behind the sound booth.......nice huh? Needless to say, it ended up being an amazing concert, we had a blast and we could still see everything (including the set list so we knew what was coming before everyone else! How's that for a silver lining?)
Thanks Jen for going with me! We really had so much fun...........Jennifer Nettles never ceases to amaze and inspire me with her voice!!!

Just a couple more pics from the concert.....

New York City!!!

We just got back from our long awaited trip to NYC! Our friends Michael and Carrie got married on Sat. the 22nd and it was a wonderful reason for us to take a trip back to the Big Apple to show Aubrey around!!
We had such a wonderful time........I'm not sure we could have possibly done any additional sightseeing than the many places we managed to squeeze into 4 short days!
A special thanks to Aunt Jan for providing our amazing accomodations.........
Here are a few of our favorite pics from the trip. If you want to see the entire trip feel free to watch the slideshow of all the photos! (although I"m sure that feature is mostly for the grandparents!!!)

The highlights of our trip were skating at Rockefeller Center, The Museum of Natural History (aka the dinosaur bones place by Aubrey), Carmines and then seeing The Little Mermaid on Broadway and getting to go backstage to meet Ariel and the rest of the cast and standing on the stage!! (thank you Emily!), Central Park with John, Jen and Matthew, The beautiful wedding where Aubrey danced with the best of them and partied til almost midnight!, Toys R Us, FAO Schwarz, Brunch at Sarabeth's with Liz and Pierre............and of course the numerous NYC taxi rides which Aubrey loved.
What more can I say? It was a perfect vacation.
Enjoy!

Who's that girl???

So Aubrey tried out a different hairstyle today!

She was sooooo proud of her "long" hair! It actually is at least a few inches longer when it's straight, she was really lovin' it.

Mommy and Daddy prefer her beautiful curls, but she had fun showing off her straight hair today.

Some of the grandchildren........

I just wanted to post a few pictures of my beautiful Grandmother! We went to Dothan last weekend to celebrate her 93rd birthday! She is absolutely amazing and doing so good. She is a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even a great-great grandmother! I believe her total children and grandchildren is well over 30!!

We had a wonderful time and Aubrey especially loved spending the night with her Grandmomma! We all love her so much and feel so blessed to have had her in our lives for so long!!
Happy Birthday Grandmomma!!
We love you!

The Princess loves her bicycle!!

Aubrey loves to ride her bicycle and play with her friends outside............I guess you just don't normally see "Cinderella" riding a bicycle around the neighborhood!!!

Fortunately another "Cinderella" lives right across the street so she's not alone.............

:)
